   To examine/operate various Input / Output deives connected to the CPU Appartus requried: A Computer CPU Input devies (Mouse, Keyboard, Scanner, etc) Output devices(Monitor, Printer, etc) 1 Screw driver   Procedure: Noted the list, manufacurer, name and model name/number of all the I/O devices that are attached to the computer CPU. Without disconnecting the cables from ports, identified the cable connections and labelled the ports. Disconnected the cables gently from the CPU unit and labelled each cable. Use screw driver to unscrew the cable sockets if they are fixed/screwed to the CPU unit. For each disconnected cable, identified and recorded the detail of connectors found at its end. The details were recorded in the following form: Name of the connector No of pins in the connector Identification of pins Male or female plug Polarization if any Name of the connector Locking/unlocking, fixing provisions. Any other descriptive remarks if required

  Exp-2 : Exmaine the layout of motherboard (MB) fixed in the CPU Objective: Exmaine the layout of motherboard (MB) fixed in the CPU Appartus required: 1. A Computer CPU 2. One Screw driver Procedure : 1. Removed all the power supply cables and data cables attached from thee cabinet to various devices like, Monitor, Keyboard, Powersupply socket, etc. 2. Unmounted screws on the cover of CPU cabinet and found that there were many cables and connectors being used for connecting various input/output devices to the MB(ATX motherboard). It is the PCB which is centre of the computer where CPU, RAM/ROM (Memory), HardDisk Drive(HDD), Floppy Disk Drive(FDD), SMPS unit, Monitor, Keyboard, mouse, CD-ROM/DVD-ROM Drive(CDR/DVDR) are mounted or connected. There are many sockets available on the MB used to connect processors, clockchip, RAM/ROM, ports and various other external peripherals like keyboard, mouse, printer, network cables, etc.

 Exp-1 : To measure the AC mains supply at 3/5 pins main socket. Objective :                     To measure the AC mains supply at 3/5 pins main socket. Apparatus required: AC Main supply. Extension board with a 3/5 pins socket. Multimeter with connecting wires. Procedure:  As shown in the fig, the thrhee pins as Line(L), Neutral(N), and Earth(E) were identified and marked on the extension board. Connected extension board plug to AC mains supply. Connected the connecting wires to the multimeter and set its range to AC 250V.         4.   On the extension board, the connecting wires from multimeter were inserted into two pins of the                socket as mentioned   below. Line and Earth Line and Neutral Neutral and Earth.     5. For each of the above pairs, Voltage supply was measured. Result: Line and Earth : 240 Volts Line and Neutral : 240 Volts Neutral and Earh : 0 Volts Here The line (L) pin is also know as Phase (P)
