Open MS Excel, import data, navigate within workbooks, format worksheets and workbooks.

1️⃣ Open MS Excel
Click Start Menu → Microsoft Excel, or
Double-click an .xlsx file on your computer.
Excel opens with a blank workbook or a template.
2️⃣ Import Data
Importing means bringing data from outside sources into Excel.
Common ways:
From Text/CSV:
Data → Get Data → From Text/CSV
From Another Excel File:
Data → Get Data → From File → From Workbook
Copy–Paste from Word, Notepad, or websites.
From Database/Web (advanced).
3️⃣ Navigate Within Workbooks
A workbook contains one or more worksheets.
Navigation tools:
Sheet Tabs (Sheet1, Sheet2…) at the bottom.
Ctrl + Page Up / Page Down → switch sheets.
Arrow Keys / Mouse → move between cells.
Name Box → jump to a specific cell (e.g., A10).
Scroll Bars → move vertically or horizontally.
4️⃣ Format Worksheets
Formatting improves readability and appearance.
Common formatting options:
Change Font, Font Size, Color
Apply Bold, Italic, Underline
Cell Alignment (left, center, right)
Borders & Shading
Number Formats (Date, Currency, Percentage)
Merge Cells
Row Height & Column Width
(Location: Home Tab)
5️⃣ Format Workbooks
Workbook formatting affects the entire file.
Examples:
Rename sheets (Right-click sheet tab → Rename)
Change Sheet Tab Color
Hide/Unhide worksheets
Protect workbook (Review → Protect Workbook)
Set Page Layout (Margins, Orientation, Size)
Apply Themes (Page Layout → Themes)
